GET INVOLVED
Here is an opportunity to do something that will
Impact Our Community!
Help make a difference
There are many ways to volunteer,
from attending board meetings to writing letters.
Here are ways you can help:
ATTEND A BOARD OF CONTROL MEETING
Meetings are typically held on the third Monday of the month at 5:15pm at the Main Library, 301 W. Congress St., Lafayette, LA. If you can, please come in person, grab an agenda and listen to the proceedings. If you feel you can, ask for a speaker's form from the Director's Secretary and speak during the public comment period. You can also print out an speaker's form HERE and bring them already filled out.

Find Board of Control Agendas and Minutes for 2022 here.

A couple of guidelines, however:

1) You must fill out and turn in a speaker's form for EACH agenda item you wish to speak on.

2) You must fill out and turn in a speaker's form for the item BEFORE the item comes up for discussion.

3) You are limited to only three (3) minutes for your public comments, and your comments must be kept on the topic of the item you are speaking on. We suggest writing out your comments ahead of time, if you possibly can. If not, just be aware that the Board is very strict on this, and they will cut you off at the three minute mark.

4) If you wish to speak on something not on the agenda, there is an item at the end, "Comments from the public on any matter not on this agenda." Use this time for those comments.
