House Bill 777, filed by Representative Kaylee Dickinson (R-Denham Springs), would make it a crime, punishable by fines up to $1000, for any public official or employee to "appropriate, allocate, reimburse, or otherwise or in any way expend public funds to or with the American Library Association or its successor." This bill would profoundly impact libraries across the state, as well as potentially shutter the LSU MLIS program.
